The Must-See Events of July in Lloret de Mar and Blanes
Summer on the Costa Brava is synonymous with beaches, hidden coves and long evenings by the Mediterranean, but it's also a season full of traditions, music and open-air celebrations.
If you're visiting Lloret de Mar over the coming weeks, you're in for a treat. The second half of July brings together some of the year's most anticipated events, from the iconic Santa Cristina Festival to the renowned Blanes International Fireworks Competition, one of the most prestigious fireworks events in Europe.
Santa Cristina Festival (16–27 July)
The Santa Cristina Festival is Lloret de Mar's most important summer celebration and a wonderful opportunity to discover the town's most authentic traditions.
Throughout the festival, the streets come alive with activities for all ages, including concerts, family shows, traditional Catalan dances (sardanes), open-air cinema, children's entertainment and cultural events that create a truly unique atmosphere throughout the town.
Festival Highlights
The Santa Cristina Maritime Procession
Every 24 July, hundreds of boats accompany the image of Saint Cristina from Lloret Beach to the chapel located on Santa Cristina Beach.
It is one of the festival's most emotional and iconic traditions.
S'Amorra Amorra
Following the procession, one of Lloret's oldest traditions takes place: the S'Amorra Amorra rowing regatta, where traditional Catalan boats compete off the shores of Santa Cristina Beach.
Ball de Plaça
Another of the town's most cherished traditions is the Ball de Plaça, also known as the Dansa de les Almorratxes, a traditional dance recognised as part of Catalonia's festive heritage.
Concerts and Entertainment
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy concerts, tribute bands, orchestras, havaneres (traditional seaside songs) and DJ performances that fill the evenings with music and celebration.
The programme also features children's activities, workshops, family entertainment, sardanes, correfocs (traditional fire runs), open-air cinema and many cultural events that showcase the authentic spirit of Lloret's summer festival.
Santa Anna Fair
Taking place alongside the Santa Cristina Festival, the traditional Santa Anna Fair is another of the highlights of summer in Lloret de Mar, attracting families and visitors of all ages.
Every afternoon and evening, the fairground comes alive with attractions and entertainment for everyone. You'll find everything from children's rides and classic carousels to thrilling attractions, as well as fairground games, prize stalls and traditional amusements.
No summer fair would be complete without delicious treats, and here you'll find churros, candy floss, waffles, caramel apples and many other traditional fair snacks, making it the perfect way to end a day at the beach.

Fireworks Display
The festival concludes with a spectacular fireworks display over Lloret Bay, one of the most eagerly awaited moments for both locals and visitors.
Blanes International Fireworks Competition (23–27 July)
Just a fifteen-minute drive from Hotel Acacias Suites & Spa, Blanes hosts one of the Costa Brava's biggest summer events: the Blanes International Fireworks Competition.
Every evening, internationally renowned pyrotechnic companies create breathtaking displays of light and colour over the sea, transforming Blanes Bay into a spectacular open-air stage.
Thousands of spectators gather each year to enjoy this event, widely regarded as one of Europe's most prestigious fireworks competitions and one of the highlights of the Costa Brava summer calendar.
Where to Watch the Fireworks
Although the fireworks can be seen from many different points around Blanes, the beach and the seafront promenade offer some of the best views.
If you're planning to attend, we recommend arriving early, as the event attracts large crowds every evening.
